Born in 1989, Leoš Suchan is currently living and working in Prague, where he graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in 2016. Prior to that he had already graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts at the Brno University of Technology in 2011.
Suchan has already taken part in numerous group exhibitions in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Italy, Germany and the UK, and his work has already been shown in an impressive number of solo exhibitions in the Czech Republic.
There is a reoccurring theme in Suchan`s body of work: the issue of a real metaphor (water surfaces or artefacts from the artist`s nearby surroundings, which by their “isolation” are excluded, or transformed, in a sense, for surprising layers are added to everyday aesthetics), in other words, his unique manner of using visual structures in order to express a personal sense of the multiple meanings of reality does not just copy nature, butcreates an idiosyncratic – as Czech art historian Vlastmil Tetiva put it – “distillate of life”
